Ferrari Press Agency Rocky 1 Ref 13546 06/12/2021 See Ferrari text Pictures must credit: Julien’s Auctions Sylvester Stallone’s original handwritten script for underdog boxing movie Rocky has sold for $437,500 USD / €387.700 euros.Stallone was aged 30 when wrote the screenplay for Rocky in three and a half days, shortly after watching the championship match between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner in March 24, 1975. Wepner suffered a technical knockout in the 15th round after few people expected him to last as long as he did. Stallone ,75, had just $106 USD in his bank account when he was offered $300,000 the equivalent of $1 million today for the rights .He was determined to make the film on his terms, starring himself as journeyman fighter Rocky Balboa.The one-of-a-kind manuscript is filled with Stallone's early and original plot details, scene specifications, and dialogue and character development concepts.Eventually the movie , released in 1976, won an Oscar for Best Picture and made Stallone a star.The script sold at Los Angeles auction house Julien’s Auctions for over eight times its original estimate of $50,000 USD / €44.300 euros.
