EXCLUSIVE | Tate brothers’ cryptocurrencies under DIICOT seizure. Gândul has obtained a list with the amounts of money, land, houses, and watches placed under the precautionary measure

The most important lead that investigators are pursuing at the moment is the Tate brothers’ estate, which is suspected to have been acquired through money laundering. According to GÂNDUL sources, the extension in rem for this crime, of money laundering, but also for favouring the offender, was made by an order issued by DIICOT prosecutors on 11 January. GÂNDUL is able to supply undisclosed details about the seized assets: real estate (land and buildings), the famous watches, sums of money and amounts in cryptocurrency wallets belonging to the Tate brothers.

It seems that the cryptocurrency business has earned the Tate brothers considerable income over the years.

On 13.01.2023, DIICOT prosecutors ordered the implementation of the precautionary measure on the amount of 16,10738654 BTC (about $294,101.55) held by Tristan Tate and located in the cryptocurrency wallets (wallet) created on the platform www.binance.com.

Another amount placed under the precautionary measure is 4.96992087 BTC ($90,744) held by Abigail Tyson (Tristan Tate’s girlfriend) existing in cryptocurrency wallets on the same platform. The precautionary measure also covers a small amount of 0.00320067 BTC ($58.44) in cryptocurrency wallets on the same platform owned by Andrew Tate.

Other frozen amounts

On the 4th of January 2023, the following amounts of money were seized:

• 51.370 lei
• 51.800 euros
• 17.430 dollars
• 5.110 pounds

This money was taken from the Tate brothers’ home in Voluntari on the 11th of April 2022 during the first searches.

On 29.12.2022, when the searches took place and the Tate brothers were detained, a further 5,230 pounds and 32,960 lei were seized from the address in Voluntari and, during the search of the home of Georgiana Naghel, co-defendant in this case, the sums of 2,250 lei and 850 euro were seized.

Unknown details about the seized watches

On 29.12.2023, the following 14 watches were seized from the house of the Tate brothers in Voluntari::

• a Hublot automatic watch with a blue strap
• a green watch inscribed Patek Philippe, Geneve Swiss
• a Patek Philippe silver watch
• a silver Cartier automatic watch
• a silver watch Audemars Piguet
• a Patek Philippe watch with a black strap
• a Hublot Classic Fussion watch with matte black strap
• a watch inscribed Ulysse Nardin with a blue strap
• a silver Rolex watch (with an authenticity certificate)
• a Rolex watch with a yellow metal strap with translucent stones of various colours around the dial
• an Akribos inscribed watch with a grey metal strap and translucent stones around the dial
• an Audemars Piguet inscribed watch with gold-tan metal strap and black dial
• an Audemars Piguet watch with a gold-tan metal strap with translucent pebbles over the entire the length of the bracelet and dial
• a Breitling watch inscribed on the back cover UB 2010, belonging to Tristan Tate

Two gold bars and a coin made of golden yellow material with the image of a cobra snake inscribed „ONE OUNCE CASH 999.9 Gold” were also collected and seized during this search.

List of seized movable assets

DIICOT prosecutors have also filed a list of properties – land and buildings – belonging to the two Tate brothers. The list that GÂNDUL presents exclusively:

• land-type property in the town of Sohodol, Brașov county, acquired in 2021 by both brothers (with an area of 1197 square meters)
• land at the same address with an area of 51 square meters, acquired in 2021
• land at the same address with an area of 2,938 square meters (acquired in 2021)
• land located in Comarnic (3,780 square meters) (acquired in 2021)
• building type construction (dechlorination station) located in Comarnic (floor area 18 square meters)
• building type construction (water tank) in Comarnic (floor area 139 square meters) – acquired in 2021
• land in Comarnic (a building with an area of 247 square meters, acquired in March 2022)
• construction-type building (block composed of 3 apartments) located in Comarnic (acquired in March 2022)
• land-type building in the town of Tunari (400 sqm), acquired in 2018
• building type construction – one level – in the town of Tunari with an area of 123 square meters plus 18 square meters of terrace acquired in 2018
• land-type building in Voluntari (with an area of 916 sqm, acquired in January 2020)
• individual unit building consisting of 8 rooms in Voluntari (area 424 square meters, acquired in January 2020)
• individual unit building, 4-room home plus outbuildings in Voluntari (with a surface area of 153.33 sqm acquired in February 2021)
• land in Voluntari (with an area of 310 sqm acquired in February 2021)
• land in Voluntari (with an area 1761 sqm in documents, measured 650 sqm), acquired in January – February 2021

As you can see, many of the real estate purchases were made in 2021, a year in which the cryptocurrency market skyrocketed.

During the search on the 29th of December 2022, the prosecution authorities completed the evidentiary material with the seizure of the following movable property:

• Tristan Tate’s 95% shareholding in Emory Andrew Tate and Sons SRL (web portal activities)

• 95% profit and loss shares in Talisman Enterprises SRL in Tarlungeni owned by Tristan Tate (web portal activities)
• Andrew Tate’s 5% shareholding in Emory Andrew Tate and Sons SRL
• Andrew Tate’s 5% shareholding in Talisman Enterprises SRL

The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected on Wednesday, 1 February, the appeal against the decision to extend the pre-trial detention, in the case of the Tate brothers – Andrew and Tristan – but also of the two Romanian women who allegedly were their accomplices, Georgiana Naghel and Luana Alexandra Radu.

The judges also ordered the appellants to pay the sum of 500 lei each, representing legal expenses to the state.
